Preserve, Document, & Share
The primary means of distribution of curricular materials will be through the outreach workshop, where we will teach interested non-HMC faculty how to run a course like our E80 rocket course. The participants will be given detailed lesson plans, as well as learn about the equipment and instrumentation needs. We plan to hold a session where participants can brainstorm on how to implement their own version of an integrated experimental engineering laboratory as model rockets are not the only potential vehicle for the synthesis of various experimental techniques.
The secondary means of distribution will be the course website. Schematics and mechanical drawings of the rockets and flight hardware as well as the control software will be available for download. Selected student results and presentations will be posted as well as the workshop materials.
We also intend to produce a paper for a refereed journal such at the Journal of Engineering Education, which will detail the course objectives and the results of the implement-assess-revise cycle.
All the assessment results will be archived for 10 years on the Harvey Mudd campus.
