Common Foundation Software Problems

1) When I simulate, my outputs are blank (neither high nor low).
Check that your output terminals are connected to your gates. Foundation does not connect by mere abutment; you have to draw a wire from the gate to the terminal to make a connection. If in doubt, grab the gate and move it around. The wire to the terminal should adjust if you are correctly connected.

2) Foundation crashes. When I restart it, it presents a dialog saying that it crashed last time. I choose OK and the system starts acting weird.
When you see the dialog, choose CANCEL. Then start Foundation again. It will run better.

3) When synthesizing a Verilog module, I get a "Syntax error at or near token 'assign'" message or some other syntax error.
Look for a missing semicolon at the end of the previous line.

4) Using "Load/save Simulation State" in the Waveform Viewer causes a General Protection Fault.
This is a known bug in Foundation. Don't use these commands. Someone in QA really pulled a blooper!
